The grants are awarded through Dutchess County’s 2019 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The first round of improvements is intended to improve accessibility through sidewalk enhancements in Dutchess County.
“In our cities, villages and hamlets, sidewalks connect residents to their neighbors, parks and the local businesses that define our communities,” said County Executive Molinaro. “We are investing in those connections by making our communities accessible to every resident of every ability – and that is the heart of our Community Development program. These CBDG funds will enhance the quality of life for countless residents, and Dutchess County is proud to partner with our local communities to improve accessibility, make new connections and further define our sense of place and the character of our county.”
The grants, which total $334,599, will be awarded to the following municipalities in their stated amounts:
Town of Amenia
- Downtown ADA Improvements: $71,000 to replace 120 linear feet of deteriorated sidewalks along Route 343 east of the intersection of Routes 22, 44 and 343
Village of Millerton
- Main Street Sidewalk Replacement: $150,000 to replace 1,000 linear feet of deteriorated sidewalks on the south side of Main Street, east of the entrance to the Harlem Valley Rail Trail

“Dutchess County has long supported accessibility enhancements through the Community Development Block Grant program, and these projects each fulfill that goal,” said County Legislature Chairman Gregg Pulver. “My legislative colleagues and I will continue our support of the CDBG program to ensure communities throughout our county become more accessible to all residents.”
